The Green Burial Alliance is committed to promoting awareness of and accessibility to environmentally responsible, genuinely natural burial practices. 

The Green Burial Council seeks to make burial more sustainable, economically viable, and meaningful by promoting environmentally friendly burial practices for those who desire a funeral in harmony with the earth.

Green and Natural Funerals are reminiscent of a bygone time when it was customary practice to bury in a way that allowed the body to return to the earth naturally.

For families who desire closer involvement with the burial of their loved one, as well as those concerned about the environment, natural burial is a uniquely fitting and truly inspired choice  It is both a caring commitment and a profoundly moving memorial.

By providing natural burial services, we endeavor to practice good stewardship in making it possible for families to care for the Earth, as we care for their loved ones.  A growing number of families are now choosing services of this type to honor their beloved departed.

Families may opt for services at home, in our funeral home, at their place of worship or other location, or even simply at the graveside. Services can be officiated by a clergyman, funeral celebrant, family member or friend. They may choose to honor their loved one by inviting those present to share thoughts and memories. We can help plan the service of choice.

For those of you who are not familiar with a natural burial ground, we recommend a look at the Steelmantown Cemetery Green Burial Preserve in Upper Township, Cape May County.  Surrounded by the Belleplain State Forest, this cemetery dates back to the 1700's, and is a true natural burial ground.

For those who already own space or prefer burial in another cemetery, we can provide a green funeral. If a burial vault is required by the cemetery, we can provide one that allows contact with the earth.

Our Natural Choice Green Burial package includes all our services necessary for a graveside service and burial in Steelmantown Cemetery Natural, which requires burial without chemical embalming and with no vault.

Natural Choice Green Burial includes:*

• Basic services of funeral director and staff
• Sanitary care of the deceased with dressing**
• Removal from place of death and transfer to Steelmantown Cemetery***
• Our attendance and supervision of the graveside service and burial
• The securing and filing of all necessary documentation
